UNBLOCKING THE DRAIN
Drain blockages are caused by build up of hair or food particles that collect in the pipe.
To prevent this problem:
* You must remove food from dishes before you put them in the kitchen sink. When it comes to the bathroom, regularly remove hair from the mouth of the drainage.
*If you are in the process of constructing a new home, use fittings that do not bend at a 90 degree angle but are curved. This kind of bend does not trap as much residue. In addition, fitting that can be removed are better then those that are permanently sealed. They can be removed and washed if the drain is blocked.
*Avoid throwing huge chunks of tissue into the toilet especially if it has a thin drainage pipe. If it blocks on a regular basis, try throwing your used tissues into a bin rather than flashing them. The type of tools you use to unblock drains depends on the problem.
You need to place some newspapers on the floor surrounding the blocked hole. Do not forget to wear gloves.
If you have grease build up, use chemicals which are often available in the store. Soda is also used depending on what is inside the pipe. You can also use a plunger which you place over the whole and push up and down over the whole. If this does not help, close the taps and throw to disconnect and clean the pipes under the sink. |
