DRYING

Remember to comb the hair before you rinse out the conditioner. Blot the hair dry. Do not rub the hair. Rather use a towel that is highly absorbent so that you are not forced to rub the hair. Avoid applying products in an up and down motion rather go downwards to maintain smoothness. This will stop the hair from becoming frizzy and will allow you to make good curls. Let it dry naturally when ever possible. Use a low temperature on the blow dryer. And use a diffuser for volume.

MAINTAINING CURLS
To maintain good curls, use a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner and styling products. These enhance the appearance of the curls. Avoid chlorine as much as possible by wearing a swimming cap when you swim. Curly hair does not retain moisture as much as straight hair and does not need to be washed daily. It can be washed every week. Avoid flat ironing your hair on humid days because it will return to natural when exposed to water vapour. If you must, the use hold spray.A simple way to stlye curly hair is by using a head band or loosely tying it in th the middle of your head.

COMBING CURLY HAIR
Split it into four sections. Comb the hair when it is wet. Using a conditioner and a wide toothed comb. Be gentle. If the hair is too tangled hold and press it against the scalp. Never comb when its dry this destroys the curls and make the hair untidy.

TIPS FOR CUTTING CURLY HAIR
Before you cut curly hair, decide on style that suit the shape of your face.
Make sure it is well conditioned. In order to reduce the width of the hair, cut it in layers at an angle. It should not be cut the same way you would straight hair which is right across a section of hair. Remember to detangle and part the hair in sections that are easier to work with the whole head. Avoid pulling the curls in order to cut them. This is done to prevent getting a shorter hairdo than what was planned. Deciding to cut it wet or dry depends on the stylist. Some prefer to cut it dry because they can see the final result as they go along. Wet and dry hair look different. And they feel that is if they attempt to cut it wet they might find that they cut out too much or too little. While others prefer to cut it wet because the can because the smaller volume is easier to work with. Either technique works if the stylist is an expert.
