APPLYING A FOUNDATION Before you apply a foundation, you must cleanse the skin and apply moisture. If the skin is dry the make up will not set well because of cracks in the skin. Choose a foundation that matches your complexion by testing different colors at the shop on the back of your hand. If the color blends well then it will probably suit your face. If you have patches of dark skin, apply the concealer before you apply foundation. The best way to apply foundation is by putting drops on your forehead, nose, and chin. You can the spread it around your face. You do not need to apply a heavy coat unless you are taking photos. To set the foundation, apply powder over it. |

SKIN TONE AND MAKE UP In order for make up to sit well on your skin, you need to make sure that the product matches your skin tone. Generally people have different skin undertones. That is why certain cosmetics look great in the store but don’t look as flattering when we try them at home. Not all colors will suite your skin. Your have to know the tone of your skin before you decide to buy make up. There are several skin tones these are; Yellow, olive, dark, tan, fair, and rosy. Your foundation should disappear into your skin and make it look more uniform. It should not be visible. If you have a fair skin tone use soft colors such as pink and beige. Dark skin blends well natural brown tones and other intense colors like purple and maroon that you can apply to you lips and eye area. Copper and almond suit olive and yellow skin while tans go with peach and orange shades. To sum up, the darker your skin, the more intense the color. A light skin needs softer colors. Make up should be done to enhance your natural features without being too obvious. Strong make up should only be applied if you are going to be on TV or taking photos.
